Gestalt Psychotherapy
Gestalt psychotherapy is a deeply relational experience and one where together we explore processes and pathways for change through dialogue and present-centered support.
Gestalt psychotherapy is an existential and experiential form of psychotherapy that has a background in psychoanalysis and zen Buddhism. It focuses on the shared relational experiences that are real, unfold in the here and now and offer authenticity and safety.
Psychotherapy for Restorations
In order for children to exit the child protection system it needs to be deemed by a court that the care environment they are returning to is safe. Mostly parents want the best for their children but struggle with the insight and skills to achieve this. Consistent and targeted psychotherapy can work to address some of the underlaying and often intergenerational trauma experienced by parents in their own early years. They may not have great parenting templates, they may have their own adverse childhood experiences and they may find the process of change challenging.
Cath’s work in agency restorations gives her a parents’ perspective of this process and provides a unique approach to therapy that is warm yet focused on the hard parts that can get in the way of change. Cath is registered as a Parenting Capacity Assessor giving her insight into the key milestones needed for a child’s safe return.
