The Magic Portal Play Therapy provides specialist support for children who have been thrust into the child protection system. They often struggle with a range of challenges specific to living in out of home care or when it comes navigating the ups and downs of restoration and court imposed restrictions. Many of these children live with the symptoms associated with significant attachment rupture and often live with the biological impacts from difficult early childhood experiences.

Cath is an accredited PACFA clinical supervisor, however, any clinician or case worker working in an-out-of-home care setting may benefit from her experience and knowledge in this specialised field.

Along with the Department of Community & Justice’s focus on restoring children back to birth families comes the need for additional support for parents to reach at least the minimum requirements of court orders to ensure the safety of their children.

The Magic Portal offers support for parents and stepparents to reach these requirements. As each case is so entirely different, the exact way in which this support is offered may need to be negotiated case by case. However, the most affordable and assessable support is generally psychotherapy for parents to work through their own trauma which becomes an enormously important part of the restoration.
